Handing Over Your Car Keys

Knowing when to surrender your car keys are not the kind of decision that people know how to make if they have been up for hours to consume alcoholic beverages or some other type of illegal substances. Therefore, it is important to warn people of a certain party sites that you will be and whether you think that you will need a ride later.

You can not go to parties or to put yourself in a situation where you are aware of a very large amount of alcohol consumed. Doing so not only irresponsible and selfish, but can be very dangerous for you and other people around you that should you slip and manage to get behind the wheel of the vehicle. If you frequent the party circuit, it pays to know what your alcohol limit. Bring a friend who does not drink alcohol, so you can be assured that you will have come home drunk tonight.

Too often, we hear tragic stories of other people around us who have lost someone to an accident with drunk driving. What makes the situation even worse is the fact that most of the time, people with drunk driving are the same people who walked away without a scratch on them while the other innocent, unsuspecting people were killed immediately. When I was at the police station, we were forced to watch a video a few graphics with drunk driving incidents. While the video was intended for learning for our graduates will go to the police academy and become a police officer, I can not help but think about all the time in the past when I've heard about one of my friends or acquaintances on the way home when drunk. Often times, things like this have been brushed aside as "not really a big deal" because no one gets hurt.

While someone who might be driven home drunk on more than one time may not really involved in an accident or hurt someone else, this does not mean that the next time there that they would be quite as lucky. In fact, it would only be a mater of time before they get into an accident or pulled over and arrested by the police too suspicious that could determine that the driver was drunk. Judging from the reactions of people after they have been arrested for drunk driving, many of them immediately felt sorry for what they've done, but it usually takes time to sink in (more than likely because they became aware of). While they are grateful that they did not hurt anyone or damage any property, they are still in shock and then start thinking about the consequences as their employer tells the story of what happened, have their license taken away, because they have to do community service and has been removed from DWI somehow their record before they ever apply for another job.
